Italian Marble - Free Texture Sample
This marble texture set was interesting to make, painting a natural stone material from scratch always is. Getting enough pattern shape to be recognisable but not too fake; introducing features without the texture repeat becoming obvious; keeping it all seamless - these are the types of challenges involved. One trick I discovered worked well (I'm using Photoshop) was to create a simple (but unconvincing) design then defining and using that image as a repeat pattern at 10 to 25% scale through the Photoshop layers of the first design. Sounds tricky, eh? It was! There's a free sample below, which you can use in your build but not for resale as a texture please. More info in this set here. The marble texture image box graphic was rendered in Blender for a bit of variation.
